Diary

September 23rd
Our brainstorm was completed and we decided to go with the idea of football hooligans, we liked the idea and thought it would appeal to target audience and also extend our personal knowledge in psychology.

September 27th
We researched football hooligans and found some interesting documents we could use in our documentary.

September 30th
We rang Geoff Pearson a professor of Law and Psychology in sport and got an interview with him on October 6th. We also produced the target audience questionnaire and started the running order.

October 4th
Due to Health and safety issues our group's idea was not allowed to continue therefore our idea changed to coffee. We did a mind map and target audience questionnaire.

October 5th
We got video and written feedback from out target audience questionnaire. Also researched into coffee some more.

October 6th
Today we did the analysis of questionnaires and started to work on the formal proposal.

October 7th
We rang Rhode Island Coffee an interview with a coffee worker for the 25th. We also rang around to try and get an interview with health advisers, however this proved unsuccessful many times as people did not want to be filmed.

October 18th
We got an interview from an NHS nurse Sharon Moody on the 27th. So we booked the cameras out for the half term 23rd-1st. We intended to film cutaways, voxpops and 2 interviews.

October 19th
Questions were made for the filmed interviews.

October 22nd
We went to pick up camera for the week and was only able to have it for the weekend as there was not enough cameras for all the groups to film. So we had to rearrange the interview with the nurse for the 25th.

October 25th
We filmed an interview with the coffee worker, the interview with the nurse and some voxpops.

October 26th
The camera was given to the other group so they could have it.

November 3rd
We started capturing our video however the teacher pointed out we do not have good mise en scene and we had not used the correct angle that we should have used in our interview with the coffee worker from Rhode Island. We did not have enough voxpops and cutaways. We decided to book a camera again so we could film voxpops and cutaways. We also rang Manni Lashkari (the coffee worker) and asked if we could film him again. He agreed.

November 8th
We picked up a camera from college and about 3 o'clock went to film some voxpops in town. We realised there was no plate on the tripod, so we went back to college to get another one. However we were not lucky as the plate for the camera we were given did not fit... (picture below)

We did not have time to go back to college and get a proper plate therefore we decided to try and film everything without. This worked out fine. We did some voxpops, cutaways and filmed the interview with Manni.

November 9th
Whilst capturing our video in college, it turned out there was no sound because the college equipment was faulty... We were very upset. We had to book another camera for the weekend. We decided to use some of the shots from the first interview with Manni (even though it did not have a great mise en scene). We rang another coffee shop (Cafe Nero) and asked if we could film the manager, they agreed.

November 12th
We went to Cafe Nero and did the interview with Rebekah Snape (coffee worker). We also did some more cutaways and voxpops. This time we had checked the microphone again and it appeared to work. However we filmed the interview twice once with the microphone and once without to ensure that there was sound.

November 14th
I interviewed the nurse again this time with appropriate mis en scene, the answers gained from this filming were better than the previous anyway. Today all the filming needed to be finished and it is.

November 15th, 16th, 17th, 18th, 19th
With all the footage captured we have a week to finish all the editing. So we continued with the editing process for the rest of the week. Staying behind until very late some nights.

November 23rd
In class we listened to some radio adverts and print advert and analysed the codes and conventions of them both. We then used our creative minds to produce idea for our own radio advert.

November 24th
We started the lesson today producing three draft of our print adverts. We then learnt how to use photo shop which we will be using to create our final idea.

November 25th
Today we wanted to film our radio advert, with approval from our teacher who said he enjoyed our draft copy. However we couldn't film it today as we waited for the equipment and then did not have time. We thought that our idea may not be strong enough so we have to rethink through our ideas again.

December 1st
We bought cream and sprinkles to create our print advert we then made a stencil of the world to sprinkle the chocolate on the cream and finally took a lot of photos for the print advert.

December 2nd
Today we were informed of our deadline: 3rd December, so we touched up of voice over script in order to record and put over footage tomorrow. We also redid our radio advert in order to record that tomorrow as well. We also made the print advert today on photo shop.

3rd December
Today we went in really early in order to film the voice over and radio advert. We found a willing volunteer to do this, we were told that the technician that could use the equipment was not in college. So one of our fellow students said they could work it for us. Once we had recorded this we found out that the equipment had recorded a horrible buzzing over the speaking therefore we had to do it again but using a standard camera and with another volunteer as the previous wasn't free anymore. We then just continued to put the voice over onto the 5 mins and make the radio advert.

6th December
We started on the evaluation today by making notes on how we used developed and challenged codes and conventions. After college we also touched up our final sequence and re filmed the voice over with someone more enthusiastic and refimed the radio advert with a catchier theme.

7th December
Today we carried on with question 2 of the evaluation.

8th December
We did the final check of the whole documentary and exported the footage.
December 13th-17th
We carried on our independent task - evaluation - until the end of term. Our print advert, radio trailer and documentary were marked as "completed".
