Radio Trailer and Print Advert

Print Adverts
Codes and Conventions

Examples of print adverts

  • A powerful key image of subject matter.
  • Usually landscape so easily fitting to billboards.
  • Programs scheduling is always included.
  • Programs name and sometimes a slogan.
  • Broadcasters logo also features.

Our three print advert ideas

During Production of print advert

These are some of the photos taken to be our main image for our print advert.

We decided to use this photo as our main image.

After changing the contrast and auto levels so its more eye catching, also changed the sharpening levels so it is striking as before it was to blurry, it looked like this.

Then we also edited the rest in photo shop, to create our print adverts.

Our 1st draft of print advert

This was wrong as the logo isn't in the middle on the right and also the table make it look a bit unprofessional. The title strips appear to be too far apart and no slogan is featured.

The final advert can be found in final production post.

Radio trailers
Codes and Conventions

Radio adverts usually feature:

  • Music which is relevant to the subject matter.
  • Channel name and time of broadcast there is usually something which is branded to the channel for example bbc's jingle.
  • Extracts from program usually key aspect of the program.
  • A voice over drawing in the audience sometimes with rhetorical questions, puns and other literary devices.
  • It would have to be played at an appropriate time for example if it was a teen drama it wouldn't be broad casted in school hours when they wouldn't hear it.

Script For our radio advert

1st Draft
(Sounds of coffee) Coffee, the thing that gets so many of us out of bed in the morning and helps us get through the day. It’s one of the most addictive drinks in the world. But why do we all love it and rely on it so much? Do you really know what you have been drinking? “it’s very rare for people to know how to make good coffee” “coffee is from a cherry” “”it can cause irritability in babies” What have you bean drinking? Channel 4 on Tuesday 8:30pm. Smell the coffee, feel the coffee, drink the coffee. (Track Coffee and TV, Blur)

Final Advert
(Sounds of coffee) We all love a good cuppa in Britain, but where does Coffee fit in. Is it really just that little kick-start in the morning that we’re looking for, or are we British becoming more continental? Is it a mere social tool or is it a little more sinister like an addiction? After all there are far more Coffee shops than tea rooms. Find out with ‘What Have You Bean Drinking?’, on Tuesday at 8.30pm, on 4 (Track Coffee and TV, Blur) CafĂ© au lait anyone?

The finished advert can be found in the final production post.
